JON BON JOVI

Jon Bon Jovi's real name is John Frank (in some textes is written Francis) Bongiovi. He was born on 2 March 1962 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, as the son of a hairdresser and a Playboy bunny.

Before the time with Bon Jovi he had played in some other bands like "John Bongiovi and the WILD ONES" or "RAZE" but these bands were not really successfull.

But when he was 19 years old, Jon held a job at the record studio of his cousin Tony Bongiovi and in between cleaning the rooms he had the oppurtunity to make some recordings. So he wrote the song "Runaway" .

With a band that he arranged himself, consisting of David Bryan (a highschool buddy), guitarist Richie Sambora, bassist Alec John Such and drummer Tico Torres, they made their debut album "Bon Jovi" in 1984. 

But he also did "Destination anywhere" and "Blaze of Glory" 
(for the film "Young Guns 2") as solo projects.

Jon can play Guitar, Harmonica, Piano and Keyboard. And of course he is an awesome singer...
His idols are Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen and Elvis.

The secret of Bon Jovi's success? Jon: "I wish I knew, then I would have sold the formula and I wouldn't have to work as hard anymore. May be it's a matter of keep on going. You either love us or you don't, but we will keep on going until the people that originally didn't like us will change their opinion about us."

He is not only activ as a singer he is also an actor; for example you can see him in the films "Moonlight & Valentino" and "U- 571". 

Jon married his "Highschool Sweetheart" Dorothea Hurley on 29th April 1989 in Las Vegas and they have two children: Stephanie Rose (born on 31th May 1993) and Jesse James Louis (born on 19th february 1995).
His mother Carol run´s "Backstage with Jon Bon Jovi", the official fanclub.

His hobby is running and he´s a fan from the New York Giants.

He got a lot of awards, for example he won with "Blaze of Glory" the Golden Globe for the Best Song and the American Music Award, Best Rock Single.
There was also a nomination for the Sexiest Man of the Year...

Jon, down to earth: "I know I will never be recognized as an important figure in Rock music. I always stayed to normal for that."
