Children are our future. They carry our hopes and dreams for the world. But to realise these dreams – to truly fulfil their potential – children must be allowed to live in a world that protects them, listens to their needs and respects their rights and dignity.
Plan is a humanitarian, child-centred organisation working with families and their communities to meet the needs of children around the world. Non-political, and with no religious affiliations, we aim to build a better world for children, now and in the future.
Now I`d like to introduce my sponsored child to you.
His name is Lawrence and he is 8 years old. He comes from Uganda.
This is Lawrence
Lawrence is a friendly little boy whose favourite games include making toys. His father tells that Lawrence always says that when he is older he would like to be a doctor.
He is in the second grade of the primary school. He is a bright child and studies hard. Every day Lawrence meets his friends Rose and Tereza.
In this part of the world children grow up fast and all must play a part in the family`s progress and survival. Lawrence helps with small errands.
There are 9 family members living together with Lawrence. This may sound like a very large family to you but this is usual in this part of the world.

Lawrence`s family lives in a small house made of brick with corrugated metal roof. The house is owned by the family without legal title.
If Lawrence or any of his family is sick they can go to the dispensary, a journey of about two hours to get to the nearest hospital.
