Here you find links to some pages everyone should visit in his/her life in the Internet.

PERSONAL PAGES

A collection of photos : Loads of pictures of me and my sweetheart. Faaaar more up-to-date than this page will ever be able to claim to be. Also a pool for my attempts as a hobby photographer.

A Flaming Lips concert experience  : I made this site in the euphory after a great Flaming Lips concert, and I still like to go there from time to time although update is really rare there as neither of the most recent concerts of the FLips I have been to have been as much of an outstanding experience as my second gig was.

Ron Sexsmith Live Pictures : A selection of photos of my first 5 Ron concerts. Concert 6 can be found in the first link of this section.

Sydne on Myspace : There is absolutely nothing of interest on this page. Just signed up to get the updates on Ron Sexsmith's page there ;)

 

UNI PAGES

The English faculty in Würzburg : My "second living room"! ;) But the best thing (beside some great lecturers and the fact one of its emphasis is on Scottish literature)...hope nobody is hurt now...are the chocolate muffins in the cafeteria!!! Addictive, I tell you...

The Politics faculty in Würzburg : This is a tiny wee faculty that fights for its survival since years. On the other hand you get the personal contact between lecturers and students that you might miss at bigger unis. Everyone's own choice what they prefer! 

The Gutenberg Project : As a "scientist of literature", this is an invaluable source. The Gutenberg Project offers books with expired copyright for download or online reading and has an immense collection of classical literature up until ~1930s. I find the ebooks specially useful if you're searching for a certain phrase within a book- it is just so much easier to search on a PC than within an actual book!

The Bundeszentrale für Politische Bildung : This page is directed at anyone that speaks German (sorry to all English speakers :( ) and that is interested in politics. The BpB is supposed to "assist consciousness for democracy and political participation" (Homepage BpB ) and therefore offers a wide collection of political writings in the form of magazines, books, CDs or DVDs for affordable prices (magazines are for free, books/CDs/DVDs between 2-6 Euro, all plus postage). If you order regularly with the semi-yearly release of the catalogue you will have a nice collection of political books within no time! :)

The Scottish Parliament : My big interest on the field of politics is the Devolution in Great Britain, especially of course in Scotland. With the Parliament being the central body of devolved powers, the webpage is an important source for information and updates on every-day business. An interesting page, and if it is only to look at the pictures of the Parliament itself (in my opinion a masterwork of modern architecture!)! Do me a favour- keep an eye on the jobs section- maybe there will be a job for me one day ;) Hope dies last!

Scottish Affairs, the Devolution page of the ESRC and the pages on devolution by the UCL in London  are three more pages on this subject, with a large number of articles on the development of Devolution in Scotland.

In early 2005, I made something I really enjoyed- translated the webpage of a lawyer's firm in Würzburg into English. I'm almost proud on that :)

 

MUSIC PAGES

The Flaming Lips!  One of the nicest sites in the Net- colourful, and the best source for fans and those who want to become some! Demands Flash

Pet Shop Boys  : the official site. Many different things around the Pet Shop Boys, but sometimes loading a wee bit slow and not always up to date. Demands flash as well.

Ron Sexsmith  :Again this beautiful voice! Small page, but suits him; I am visiting it daily to see if he has added more tour dates :D (Luckily and finally a page that doesn't demand flash! THX THX THX)

Steve McCormick  In my opinion, this songwriter has much potential to make it up to the top of his genre- if a clever record label gives him a contract!! (That´s a cue at all the labels out there ;-)) You can also listen to some of his songs on his page and judge yourself! I´m sure your judgement won´t differ from mine...

The Indie music magazine Intro has its wee corner in the web as well; including everything the indie fan needs.

 

BEAUTIFUL PAGES

Der Kleine Prinz  : German; sorry! But who has read the book of Saint Exupéry and liked it, will love this page. Something to relax and recover.

Besenflug : Take a wee bit time, close the other windows you have open, and just walk around there....

Kurt Halsey : My favourite painter. His paintings and drawing have a special sad sweetness that is very moving. You really should have a look there!

 

FUNNY PAGES

Morgenstern poetry  : Haha, he is my favorite poem writer. I like that irony and often sarcasm he brings in his poems; and luckily this is a bilingual page :-)

Useless Laws : I really ask myself who has made these laws....why is it forbidden to look at elks from an airplane?? Oh come on.....!

Kill your PC : Everyone knows that little windows where you ask yourself how stupid a PC (or his Programmer *fg*) can be! Keep cool; these windows aren´t on YOUR screen!

"Comics" : Some nice little drawings with its special sense of humour ;-)

GAMES

Click the colour : and not the word! I found it quite tricky, but I know people that find it boring and easy. Judge for yourself!

Tetris : The famous and never reached again Tetris  game!

Throw Pigs! : Throwing dice is old fashioned. Hip people throw pigs :D

Who´s going to be Millionaire?? : The great TV show on pc! For the german version click here .

Tricky labyrinth game : Get the cow to its destination, through a jungle of obstacles. Great fun!

Build Europe! Drag each country in an empty map of Europe. Hopefully you'll find their right places...took me a while until every country had its right position ;)

 

GENERAL

Latin News : If you cannot stand all that languages on this world and would prefer the world to go back to the Romans in the first centuries, you can have it here: the news of the week written in Latin. Meanwhile I cannot understand very much after 2 years not having Latin class, but I hope some of you can use it!

Link collection  : If you have found now some nice links (haven´t added all the links I intended to yet!) but cannot keep the URL in mind, go there and you can put them all in there. There is NO space restrictions on this site, and alhough it is German you probably won´t have any problems with it :-)

Useful converter : Stone to kilo, meter to miles. And many more!

Aphorism : The right aphorism for every situation in life. Sorry, German.... :-/

Dictionnary English-German : I would be lost without that. Very fast, and you almost always find the right word.

Relationships Internet : Type in a hp you know and see how close it is connected to other pages (similar pages). Very interesting!

The morality test : Take it and see how moral you are!

 

Make connections with openBC (on a business level) or if you are at a German university or college with the Studiverzeichnis (on a personal level).

Facts about Germany gives a short introduction to Germany- history, politics, economy, society, education etc etc. A very interesting and concise read!
