The Zhuang Nationality people, who love to sing folk songs, usually make friends and express love through singing songs. In 1993, Nanning first organized the Guangxi International Folk Song Festival, which was renamed as the Nanning International Arts Festival of Folk Song in 1999. During the festival, Chinese and foreign folk singers perform classical and modern folk songs, thus fully displaying the charm of classical and modern folk songs. From Chinanews.net, July 19, 2002---- According to the information released by a director of the Organizing Committee Office of 2002 Nanning Folk Song Festival, 15 folk songs composed specially for the Opening Evening "Songs Flying Everywhere . 2002" by the first batch contracted composers who have been contracted for producing lyrics and melodies for songs of Guangxi, will turn up in the coming folk songs festival. The director of the Organizing Committee Office of 2002 Nanning Folk Songs Festival, together with the executive director and the general music supervisor who are in charge of the floor shows of 2002 Nanning Folk Songs Festival, all addressed excitedly after a trial listening to the new songs that they would pack the whole freshly-made 15 songs elaborately and present them to the public in various evening parties during the coming festival and then produce a VCD for them. The first batch contracted composers for producing lyrics and melodies in Guangxi had been going deeply into Baise Prefecture for collecting folk songs as early as in June of this year. They had traveled throughout the villages inhabited by ethnic peoples of Zhuang, Yao, Miao, Yi and Molao nationalities and had collected the typical local melodies and lyrics. After closing-door writing for a period of time since the composers came back from Baise Prefecture, 15 folk songs in various styles and attractive lyrics were produced in their Songs Creation Base. Among which, there were songs of "Beating Days Mountain After Mountain (lyrics by Fu Xin, music by Lan Huaichang)", "More Mountain Springs Than Stars (lyrics by Liang Shaowu, music by Fan Ximu)", "Drawing a Picture for My Fancy Man (lyrics by Hu Hongyi, music by Lan Qijin)", etc. The nation-renowned musician, general music supervisor of "Songs Flying Everywhere . 2002" , Mr. Lao Zai, came all the way from Beijing this time for listening to these songs.
