The 22-year-old singer was on his way from London's Notting Hill to his family home in Stoke-on-Trent when the accident happened. A few miles from Stoke another car ploughed into the side of his rented Toyota. He escaped unhurt but was badly shaken. Jonathan who recently launched his own pop career said: "This car appeared from nowhere and went straight in to me, it all happened so fast there was nothing I could do. I'm just thankfully I was wearing my seatbelt." Although the car was a write-off neither the other driver or Jonathan were badly hurt, but both very shocked and upset. Jonathan has since jetted off to Denmark where he is promoting his debut single 'Just another day' which was released here in March. We are set for another single release here in the summer. (Daily Star) 8th March - GERI'S OUR BIG SIS There's no affair, says Robbie's best ROBBIE Williams regards Geri Halliwell as a "big sister" and is looking forward to finding a girl he can settle down with. Jonathan Wilkes, who is the ex-Take That star's lifelong best friend, has lifted the lid on Geri and Robbie's life together. Wilkes shares a flat with Robbie in London's trendy Notting Hill and says it is a case of No Sex Please We're Brits Winners, when it comes to Geri and Robbie's relationship. Far from the rumours of a love affair, he claims the three of them see each other as family. The trio often spend time at the pounds 1 million flat, where they try to live like ordinary people. But Robbie is looking elsewhere to find the love of his life. Jonathan said: "I know Geri's only little, but she's become our big sister. Geri's ace and is a great girl. I've never met a girl with so much determination. She is round at our place all the time." He insists the three of them drank tea and played cards after Robbie's triple Brits win last week. Awards for Best Male Artist, Best Single and Best Video gongs brought Robbie's Brits tally to 12. But instead of partying with his label EMI and other celebrities, Robbie joined Geri and Jonathan at home. Geri, who stole the show at last year's awards night with a raunchy performance of her single Bag It Up, won Brits during her time with The Spice Girls. Johnathan added: "After the Brits we all went home, had a cup of tea and played a card game called Uno. It's fun. We just sat around playing Uno and chatted. We're all normal people and are all very similar." Rumours of a romance between Robbie and Geri surfaced last summer when they were spotted on holiday together in St Tropez. Johnathan said: "We all very busy lives and we've had some great holidays together. But that's as far as it goes." Keen footballer Jonathan, who once had a trial with Everton, has taken up a pop career thanks to Robbie. He released his debut single Just Another Day this week and is tipped for a chart placing on Sunday. But he admits that he couldn't have done it without Robbie's help. He said: "You only get one friend like that in your life and I feel very lucky. "Robbie just sits back and watches me like a proud best mate. Our friendship gets closer every day and we are really strong for each other. "He will pick me up when I have a bad time and I do the same for him. 24th of February 2001 Robbie Williams' best pal Jonathan Wilkes says the superstar feared for his life after being thrown off stage by a fan. As the Daily Star reported yesterday, a lunatic sneaked past guards and hurled the singer off stage during his Stuttgart gig. Although Robbie bravely returned to the stage later, Jonathan revealed the attack had hit Rob hard. Last night Robbie's lifelong friend, flatmate and fellow singer spoke about the incident. "I spoke to Robbie straight after it happened and basically s*** myself," said Jonathan, 22. "Robbie was shocked and scared. "It shook me up and it shook Robbie up. I mean it would, it's only natural. I was really worried for Robbie. He's my best mate. "I hate to think what could have happened." Although Robbie is still bruised he will continue with his European tour. And he will be sharing a table with Jonathan at Monday's Brit Awards. The duo have been mates "since day dot", according to Jonathan, from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, who is embarking on a solo singing career. He said: "Robbie's my one special friend - you only get one of them in a lifetime and I'm keeping hold of mine." Jonathan has enlisted the help of Robbie and Guy Chambers for a track on his forthcoming album. The song, which is a rocky bitter love ballad is a sure fire No. 1 if it is released as a single. Meanwhile, Jonathan's debut single, Just Another Day is released on March 5 and he's already been compared to George Michael and Bryan Adams. We can reveal Canadian rocker Adams has written a song for the album, Borrowed Wings. "I know it sounds cheesy but I've been waiting six years for this and feel I've finally arrived," said Jonathan. Jonathan signed to Billie Piper and Martine McCutcheon's Innocent label last year. Now he's ready to follow in his famous friend's footsteps. His debut single, Just Another Day, hits the shops on March 5. He and Robbie share a pad in Notting Hill, west London, and have been pals since they were kids. Jonathan admits that Robbie has been giving him a few handy hints to prepare him for life in showbiz. The 22-year-old says: "I'm very fortunate, because my best friend is in the industry that I'm going into - and he's top of the tree at the moment. Of course he offers me advice."And I'd be foolish not to listen to him, because he's been there for 10 years."The main bit of advice Robbie has given me is to stay the way I am. I'm just one of the lads and I like to have a good time with my mates."What I'm doing now isn't going to change that." Robbie bigs up best mate Updated 18 Jan 2001 Robbie's best mate, Jonathan Wilkes, releases his debut single, 'Just Another Day' on 5th March. Jonathan wrote it himself, and Rob and Guy Chambers have written a couple of tracks for his forthcoming album. You may have already seen Jonathan on the National Lottery where he went down really well with Dale Winton. Robbie, who's grown up with Jonathan, says he can't believe what his mate's turned into: "He's gone from being my mate to being on the screen and looking like this film idol. It's amazing, and his songs are great, and I'm really proud of him." "He's my little brother, so it's just so weird to see him on the telly now. I hope he pulls it off, and then he can come on holiday with me!" BBC1 Jonathan´s debut Single will be released on March 5th 2001!! Jonathan tops the bill at Irene's Musical Extravaganza [Jonathan Wilkes] Jonathan Wilkes is a young man who's going places. With a recording contract under his belt - his CD to be released early next year is likely to be one of the first millennium sensations of the pop world, especially as the songs have been co-written with his lifelong friend Robbie Williams! But this young star has a heart too, and he showed it was in the right place when at the request of stalwart Christie supporter and impresario Irene Edwards he topped the bill at her Musical Extravaganza at Crewe's Lyceum Theatre. And he finished his set with what he called "Christie's song", the poignant Robbie Williams song Angels which was used on the Appeal's groundbreaking tv advert in 1998.
