Gloria Estefan kicks back
The superstar singer on tweezers, treasures, and childhood pleasures
WAY TO RELAX "Every morning, my husband, Emilio, and I drive over to the Car-dozo Hotel, in Miami Beach, which we bought several years ago. We'll walk for three miles on the beach there. And I always enjoy sitting at the bar of the Cardozo, where we've had some incredible celebrations over the years!"
BEAUTY ITEM "I couldn't go anywhere without my pair of Tweezerman tweezers. If, God forbid, I were stranded on a desert island, having my Tweezermans would guar-antee that I'd still be recognizable when I was finally rescued."
ITEM OF CLOTHING "I still treasure my father's sweatshirt that he wore in the 1952 Pan American games, when he played volleyball representing Cuba. I've put it away now so it won't get damaged."
MOVIE "The Wizard of Oz. When I was a kid, I'd anxiously await the yearly screening of the movie on TV. It has such a wonderful message - Dorothy finds her way home by discovering that everthing she needed was inside her all along."
GIFTS YOU'VE RECEIVED "I cherish anything made by my two children. Years ago, my son, Nayib, gave me a beautiful wooden box that he made for me in shop class. And my daughter, Emily, made me a beautiful heart-shaped box covered in pictures of the two of us."
