The International Free Protestant Episcopal Church in the USA

"...vibrancy...tradition...tolerance and mutual respect..."

"...walk in newness of life..." Romans 6:4

The International Free Protestant Episcopal Church (TIFPEC) was founded in Europe in 1897 A.D. within the heritage of the evangelical Church of England and has now begun a "New Anglican Mission" in the United States of America!

With over 110 years of global ministry, this religious organization is now known in the United States and in the Americas as The International Free Protestant Episcopal Church in the USA - or more simply - "The Free Episcopal Church USA" (TIFPECUSA).

"To be an Anglican is to be on a journey of faith in God, supported by the fellowship of believers who are dedicated to finding God by prayer and service."

            - Dr. H. Block

TO BE ANGLICAN/EPISCOPAL MEANS:

+ To be a part of Christ's Church, without excluding or isolating yourself from other Christians.
+ To participate in the life of God's people, with its happiness and sadness.
+ To belong to a community where all persons are respected for their individuality and can use their talents.
+ To demonstrate a theology based on the Holy Scriptures and on Tradition, coherent with intelligence and reason.
+ To be prepared to celebrate unity in diversity.
+ To take the Holy Scriptures seriously, without believing that every text must be understood literally.
+ To prefer freedom in Christ to sameness of opinion.
+ To feel devotion and reverence for the Sacraments, without trying to define each point concerning these mysteries.
+ To consider the ministry as the duty and privilege of all baptized people.
+ To be strong on morality (all that's good and edifies) and to avoid moralism (that defines salvation as due to one's conduct and not to the work of Christ).
+ To participate in the apostolic inheritance, faith in the Gospel of Christ.
+ To be part of an old and sacred history, which renews itself every day.
+ To believe that the Church belongs to all of us and everyone has the privilege of supporting it in accordance with the possibility of each one.
+ To participate in the administration and government of the Church under the established order.
+ To belong to an international, intercultural, and interracial family, that proclaims the Gospel worldwide, as commanded by Christ.

And so...

As traditional Anglicans, we adhere to the unique authority of the Sacred Scriptures.

As contemporary Anglicans we recognize an historical and progressive context of Scriptural interpretation and application, and thus endores a "unique" authority of the Scriptures within the larger context of Church Tradition.

As traditional Anglicans we uphold the classical Christian Creeds (e.g., The Apostle's Creed).

As contemporary Anglicans we recognize the fluid, non-static, inspiration of the Holy Spirit to teach us the meanings of the Creeds in our own day. Only the first four ecumenical church councils retain any place of authority or recognition.

As traditional Anglicans, we are confessional and subscribe to the Thirty-Nine Articles of the Anglican/Episcopal Church ("...all may, some should, none must..").

As contemporary Anglicans, we allow for a breadth and depth of understanding found within the 39 Articles.

As traditional Anglicans, we utilize the Book of Common Prayer.

As contemporary Anglicans, we allow for the 1928 and the 1979 Books of Common Prayer, as well as The English Missal. Other Rites are equally recognized, dependending upon the spiritual needs of the chaplaincy or ministry one is engaged in.

TIFPECUSA not only shares full membership in the ICCC, but also shares the vision of community-based churches, missions, and minsitries.
