Merry Christmas and a Happy Peaceful New Year

Dear Sisters and Brothers around the Globe,

“Glory to God in the Highest; On Earth Peace; And Good Will among People.”

The scientific fact that the earth is round or oval and flies so high in the endless universe - with no material whatsoever, no iron, no wood and no strong separating Walls to hold it and keep the fiery sun from crashing into Jupiter, Mars or the earth - continues to amaze my mind, and make the beats of my heart go faster and sound louder. The harmony in which our planet swims amongst the hundreds of other planets brings me repeatedly, throughout the year and not least during Holy Seasons, down on my knees; when I turn my dreams, wishes and prayers heavenwards; when I seek Christ’s wisdom and guidance for the moments, the months and the year to come.

As the Christian world celebrate Christmas, the earth continues to orbit.  It never stops. Astronomically speaking, December the 25th of every year, comes only once every twelve months.  However, it is the message of Christmas that must not stop to orbit and need become the daily way of living for peace to prevail on earth.

Christmas is not only a time to remember and celebrate the event of 2007 years ago.  If it is so, I am afraid we may as well confess that we have forgotten Christ.  ‘In the footsteps of Christ’ shall become the title in action for every mass in every cathedral, and the only reason for every ringing bell.  Only then, we may sing: “Joy to the World the Lord is come.”

Christmas becomes real when we truly realize that a smile on a child’s face is worth the treasures of the world;
It is Christmas whenever we sweep with kindness the tears of lonely widows;
It is Christmas when we become parents to orphans who lost their fathers and mothers;
It is Christmas when we un-break the hearts of all who have broken hearts;
It is Christmas when we give food to those with empty stomachs;
It is Christmas when we replant uprooted nations and lands with the seed of liberty and brotherhood;
It is Christmas when the leaders around our globe wake up to their humanity;
It is Christmas when Justice prevails and Truth overcomes;

While the world is haunted with negative aspects and concepts of unrealistic impossibilities; all of us believers know that making peace is not one amongst the impossibilities. Peace is not beyond our human capabilities.  Whether it is Oslo Accord or Annapolis, it is time to wake up to the reality that while peace negotiations go on, hundreds of children continue to be slaughtered at the hands of reincarnated Herods of our present.

Peace on Earth requires the best of Good Will.  Together we can become the Hope that beats with Love, the bells that ring for Truth; the drums that triumph for Justice; the light that defeats the darkness; and the joy of reconciling peace that overcomes evils of all battle fields.

May I take this opportunity to thank all of you, also on behalf of my family, for being wonderful friends and great supporters of His mission in His world.  Know you are in our prayers that you may have a most joyous Christmas and a most blessed and peaceful 2008.

In Christ,
