A grim reality is that 13 million children worldwide are already orphans because their parents have died of AIDS
. Many of these kids face a bleak future growing up alone denied the love and protection which should be provided by a family. The huge majority of people who die of AIDS in Africa will have no idea what is happening to them - or why. Because there is a Wall of Silence that surrounds AIDS. People are scared to ask questions which would help them protect their own lives, which means that the silence and stigma goes on - and so does the slaughter. AIDS thrives on silnce. Which is why this year UNICEF, the United Nations Childrenīs Found, is asking you to help them Break the Silence around HIV and AIDS. And one person in particular has come forward to help them in that fight. In May this year ROBBIE WILLIAMS travelled wiht UNICEF to Mozambique. This is a country which was brought to itīs knees by floods in February, but which is being invisibly devastated from the inside by the spread of HIV/AIDS. The floods killed a total of 700 people. Yet each day in Mozambique alone, 700 people become infected with HIV. But donīt think there isnīt hope. ROBBIE travelled around this beautiful country - and saw people beginning to fight back. Neighbours are caring for orphanded children, helping eachother, while young people are at the forefront of the fight, finding imaginative ways to spread the world about AIDS and warn people how to protect themselves. They can bring down the Wall of Silence. And you can help! On their Website there is a message from Robbie asking for your help and support.
Thank you
