Self conception

As CVJM Hildesheim e. V. (YMCA Hildesheim), we are strongly committed to the work with children, youths and young adults. But families and adults, too, will find a “home“ within our community. Our member circle sees itself as fellowship of believers as described in the New Testament.

Since 1985, following impulses from the charismatic movement in the Protestant Church, we have been open for all the charisms that God gives to His church. In 1986, we've become a member of the Verbund, the network initiative within the AG der CVJM Deutschlands, the Association of Germany's YMCAs. This initiative is a self-help group of those YMCAs that build up fellowship life among their members. By our membership in the AG der CVJM Deutschlands, we're also a member of the YMCA Germany.

Our orientation is interdenominational, and we're not linked to any denomination in particular. Our work is based upon the Paris Basis for the World Alliance of YMCAs from the year 1855:
„The Young Men's Christian Associations seek to unite those young men who, regarding Jesus Christ as their God and Saviour, according to the Holy Scriptures, desire to be his disciples in their faith and in their life and to associate their efforts for the extension of His Kingdom amongst young men. “

Today, membership is open for everyone.
